Zahava Fried, known as Morah Zahava throughout the Buffalo community, is currently attending the Academy for Jewish Religion, based in Yonkers, NY, where she is in the process of obtaining her cantorial ordination. A classically trained opera singer who has previously performed with the Pittsburgh Opera, her emerging cantorate infuses meaningful Jewish Tfillah (prayer), experiential Torah education, and Nusach (prayer tradition). She holds a B.A. in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood from SUNY Empire State College, an A.A. in Judaic Studies from Yeshiva University, and an M.A. in Jewish Studies from Gratz College. Alongside her work on the Bimah, Zahava is responsible for developing and leading the Temple’s youth education programs. She resides in Williamsville with her husband, Dr. Yaakov Fried, and their three children. |
