Cantorial Intern

Zahava Fried, known as Morah Zahava throughout the Buffalo Community, is so excited to begin her internship at Temple Beth under the mentorship of Rabbi Rosenbaum, continuing with Rabbi Rich, and Cantor Spindler. Zahava is currently attending the Academy for Jewish Religion, based in Yonkers, NY, where she is in the process of obtaining both cantorial ordination and a M.A. in Judaic Studies. A classically trained opera singer who has previously performed with the Pittsburgh Opera, her emerging cantorate infuses meaningful Jewish Tfillah (prayer), experiential Torah education, and Nusach (prayer tradition). She holds a B.A. in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood from SUNY Empire State College and a A.A. in Judaic Studies from Yeshiva University. In addition to her Cantorial Internship at Temple Beth Tzedek, she is responsible for developing and leading a number of the Temple’s and the community's youth programs. She resides in Williamsville with her husband, Dr. Yaakov Fried, and their two daughters.
